2012 East Sac Select Soccer Tryouts
If your child is interested in playing select soccer for East Sac have them attend tryouts for the 2012 Season
Tryouts will be held at Grant Park (21st and C St.). Players must attend at least one tryout session and should attempt to attend both sessions. Although the tryouts for most teams are scheduled in January, the Select season will not start until June or July. Feel free to email the Select coach or the Select Coordinator with any questions.
What is Select?
Select is the level of soccer between Recreational and Competitive.
The greatest differences between recreational and select soccer are the length of the practice season and the amount of tournament play. In addition to a 10-game fall schedule,
Select teams generally play in weekend tournaments in June through December. The number of tournaments varies from team to team—some may go to two or three tournaments, while others may play in as many as seven or eight. The playing league covers a wide geographic area; you may play teams from anywhere from Fairfield to Chico to El Dorado Hills.
The cost for Select is higher than for recreational play and also varies by team. In addition to the normal club registration fees,
Select costs might include uniforms, equipment, and tournament entry fees.
The East Sacramento Soccer Club does not field Select teams in every age group. Teams are normally formed when a core group of players from a recreational team decides to make the commitment to a longer, more intense campaign. The club holds tryouts every spring so that teams can fill any open roster spots.
