East Sacramento Rec Soccer

East Sacramento Youth Soccer Club

Welcome to East Sac Recreational Soccer. The Club  has been around since the late 1970's. The Club is affiliated with Sacramento Youth Soccer League (SYSL).  SYSL works under District 6 and Cal North.  East Sac Soccer Club believes in our community and strives to provide a wonderful atmosphere for children to  play and learn the game of soccer.  The season goes from August to November and sign ups begin April 1 and go till the end of May.  We are a volunteer organization and we rely on parents as board members, coaches and team organizers to make this club function.

USSF Player Development Initiatives:
How this affects all clubs  including  our East Sac Youth Soccer Club!

As many of you are aware, the United States Soccer Federation (USSF also known as US Soccer) has issued player development initiatives designed to improve youth soccer. The main goal of the USSF initiatives is to provide a consistent landscape for youth soccer across the United States. The two major components of the mandates are a move to Birth Year registration (Jan 1, to Dec. 31) for all age groups, and small sided games  for younger players (U6-U12).

PARENTS, PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THESE TWO DOCUMENTS

USSF hopes to shift the focus of youth soccer from team success to player development.

These initiatives are true mandates, and every soccer organization in the US is required to implement these changes by 2017.

This is the question everyone is asking!

Can  my child play in an older age group or play up?

Yes, players may play up.  The Sacramento Youth Soccer League SYSL has lifted the No Play Up Rule and for the 2017 season, all players can play up 2 birth years or 1 age group with the permission of each club and its board members.

Our Club fully supports the theory behind these changes.  We hope you see the positive sides as well!

Smaller sided games means players touch the ball more frequently, are more engaged in the game and have more fun.
